                                        “Yelling from the void”

And he cried out, saying, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" Then those who went before warned him that he should be quiet; but he cried out all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!"

                                                                                                   Luke 18

This blind man was crying out from a void in his life, one that limited his ability to find his way through this world. He was a blind man in a world that could see, or was it the other way around? Having eyes that can see is for sure a blessing. But eyes were not needed to see Jesus, just a faith in Him. Those leading the procession had eyes but were not seeing the faith in this man calling out to Jesus, all they could see was a man bothering them and thinking maybe Jesus was too. They must have looked pretty good walking down the road with the famous Jesus who was quickly growing in popularity. But a popularity that was not seen as well as this blind man could see it. Faith, is defined in Hebrews 11:1 as, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” “Evidence not seen” he couldn’t see Jesus because the evidence was not there for the eyes to see. But something more powerful was there, Faith! The belief of truth with no evidence in sight. Just a heart and mind that could see without eyes. When we think about how we cannot see a second in front of us because we lack the eyes of faith, it is now time to be looking with the eyes of a blind man.
